John's Story

In 2009, while on deployment in Iraq, our founder John Herman met a tea and coffee merchant named Abbas. Abbas and John formed a friendship and this relationship sparked an interest in John for tea and coffee. After over a decade of tea and coffee solely being a hobby, John decided to resign from his job as a high school business teacher to pursue his passion. Since starting this journey, Chara Tea and Coffee has focused on producing high quality products for a cause. The company was founded on building our community through charity, and being a great neighbor. We focus on purchasing from local farms, paying fair prices, and being a company for the general good. Now available for purchase in 9 states throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Chara Tea is also one of the fastest growing tea brands in the county.
